Houthis appoint ambassador to Tehran

The Houthi Government of Yemen appointed Ibrahim al-Deilami as its ambassador to Tehran on Saturday, a diplomatic move that enhances the Houthi-Iran cooperation in the war in Yemen. The appointment comes as an Ansarullah Movement delegation is in Iran to hold political talks. On Saturday, Iran, Houthi members and representatives of some European countries held a meeting in Tehran to discuss the situation in Yemen. On Saturday, Abdulmalek al-Houthi made a speech, pointing out Yemen is keen on re-establishing diplomatic ties with Iran. Al-Houthi said that implementing previous agreements with Iran benefits the Yemeni people, noting that there were some 70 agreements signed between the two countries before the revolution. Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has been leading an Arab coalition in Yemen fighting the Houthis who have been views the proxy of Iran in Yemen. The war has created a tragic humanitarian situation and left thousands of deaths and injuries. |
