Yemen’s government has reiterated that the transition to any political consultations on a comprehensive settlement of the conflict depends on the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement. “This is what the Security Council and the international community should work to achieve because those who do not abide by previous agreements will not comply with any new deals or political settlements,” said Yemen’s permanent representative to the UN Abdullah al-Saadi in his speech before the Security Council. He was also briefed on Thursday by UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths on developments to achieve peace and the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement. He said the government also “accepted Griffiths’ proposals to reach a political solution based on the three agreed terms of reference, namely the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and relevant Security Council resolutions, mainly resolution 2216.” -Agencies |
