Russia to send food aid to Yemen

SANA'A, July 10-Russia will send food aid aircraft to Sana'a in the coming days, a part of the Russian efforts to help mitigate the suffering Yemeni people in such catastrophic humanitarian conditions, The Russian News Agency TASS reported on Friday.

TASS quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying, "In the coming days, there are plans to send food supplies for civilians to Sana'a by the planes of the Emergencies Ministry."

Yemen's warring parties have agreed late Thursday to a one-week ceasefire in order to give room for humanitarian to enter the country.

"We urge all the sides to assist ensuring unhampered delivery of the Russian aid, its distribution among the affected civilians of the country," the ministry said.
Over 21 million Yemenis or 80% of the country's citizens are in need of humanitarian aid According to the UN reports.

Additionally, about 3,000 people have been killed in airstrikes and ground fighting besides one million internally displaced person since the start of fighting in March, the UN has said.
