The Emirates Red Crescent on Tuesday launched an project to provide Eid al-Fitr clothing for orphans and children with special needs children from low-income families in Mukalla, the capital of Yemen's southern governorate of Hadramout.
Now in its second year, the annual humanitarian aid project in Mukalla seeks to ease off the suffering of thousands of families ahead of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, the month of Muslim fasting, said the Emirates Red Crescent.
The effort is driven by the humanitarian approach of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to solidarity with people and friends in times of crisis, it added.
An exhibition showcasing the aid project was opened by Under-Secretary for Technical Affairs in Hadhramaout Governorate, Mohammed Al Amoudi, and other officials.
UAE is a key member of the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis in Yemen.
