3 fuel ships arrive in Hodeida port

The Houthi Group Saturday announced the arrival of three fuel ships in Hodeida seaport in west Yemen, after the internationally recognised government allowed four fuel ships to enter the port to alleviate an acute fuel crisis in Houthi-run regions.

"Three ships carrying 83.087 tons of petrol, diesel and mazut arrived in Hodeida seaport this morning,” Vice chairman of the Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation, Yahya Sharaf Al-Din, wrote on Twitter.

"Two fuel tankers will arrive in the port later today," he added.

On Thursday, the government said it had allowed four fuel ships to enter Houthi-controlled Hodeida seaport upon request from the UN envoy, Martin Griffiths.

The Houthi-run provinces have seen an acute fuel crisis for three weeks. The Houthis have blamed the crisis on the Saudi-led coalition, saying the coalition has been preventing 22 fuel ships from reaching Hodeida port.
